Fangirling With Writer Podcaster Lyra Hale

Meet Lyra Hale, a queer Latinx writer, podcaster, and artist.  She is the Trending News Editor at Remezcla. She is also the Managing Editor at Fangirlish and runs a Tuesday column titled Queerly Not Straight. When not writing, she is 1/3 of Stop and Fangirl, a pop culture, entertainment, and politics podcast and produces content for Den of Geek. Previously, Lyra worked with Women and Hollywood and was the News Editor for The Mary Sue.

Telling authentic queer and Latinx stories is her priority and the reason why loves creating short stories, poetry, and one day, her own book.

In this episode, Lyra shares her coming out story, how her family dealt with the news, and why it involves the late 1990's hit The Mummy.    Her love of diverse media led her to begin writing for entertainment sites, and her journey drew her to fanfiction and podcasting.  Tune in to hear about the importance of music in the creative process, a lesson taught by politician John Kerry, and how Lyra can take flowers and transform them into Baby Yoda.
